Even if we enter domain names (e.g. thackba.de) in the browser, the browsers and servers communicate with each other by using IP addresses. The DNS protocol is used to determine an IP for a domain name.
You can test which IP address is behind which domain name here. If you enter the desired name and click on the “Resolve domain name” button, you will be shown the IP addresses and other values.
